The Public Authority of the Craft Industries Building in Muscat boasts a modern design that serves as a hub for traditional Omani crafts. The building was constructed on a 9730 SQM plot and has a total built-up area of 16850 SQM. Its design was inspired by the traditional Omani forts and crafts, featuring thick walls, narrow openings, and the use of local stone. A combination of concrete, stone, and glass was used for the building's exterior, creating a modern yet timeless appearance.
Inside, the building was designed to create a sense of openness and lightness. The central atrium is a triple-height space flooded with natural light, surrounded by balconies and walkways that offer views of the workshops and exhibition spaces. The Craft Industries Building in Muscat is an innovative building that showcases Oman's rich cultural heritage, combining traditional elements with modern technologies and sustainable practices.
Recently, the building became the headquarters of the Ministry of Social Development after the Public Authority of the Craft Industries became a part of the Ministry.
